ROLE OVERVIEW & CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:The Credit Officer position is an important and critical position within the Bank and the incumbent must be capable of performing all credit functions in an efficient and professional manner. In addition to sound knowledge of bank’s credit policies and procedures, the incumbent must also have strong customer service skills and maximize the contribution of team members through leadership by example, encouragement and effective training programs.
In dealing with lending activities the incumbent requires a seasoned knowledge of the Bank policies (including credit risk rating and scoring techniques) along with collection processes. The incumbent requires a strong working knowledge of consumer lending, collections and security realization processes.
The incumbent must be conscious of the need for balancing the sales and credit granting activities of the Bank with the need for obtaining funding for lending activities at a reasonable and rationale cost structure that would allow for the sustainable growth of the Bank.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
1.0 DAILY
1.1 Serves all customers in the most professional manner possible, ensures all customer service standards and all customer needs are met.
1.2 Continually solicits new customers and cross sells all services at every opportunity.
1.3 Ensures all loan applications are thoroughly completed and supported by proper documentation.
1.4 Ensures that all credit card applications are properly completed, inputted into the system and approved before forwarding to the Credit Card Centre.
1.5 Ensures the data input section of all loan, LAP and Credit Card applications are thoroughly and properly completed, noting specifically whether accounts have to be joined/combined with all existing accounts in order to avoid duplication of CIF files.
1.6 Passes completed applications, with their recommendations, to the Sr. Assistant Manager, Credit or Senior Manager, and in the absence of both, to Credit Risk Management Department for approval.
1.7 Ensures that all applications (Loan, LAP and Credit Card) are approved or turned down within the specified standard.
1.8 Ensures that all appointments are properly recorded and that the traffic sheets are recorded accurately using the specified codes.
1.9 Ensures that all customers who require a return visit have a completed appointment card and that the appointment is logged on the traffic sheets.
1.10 Ensure that every lending opportunity is followed up. That is, a phone call should be made to all clients whose applications are pending.
